Wide Hollow Reservoir Refurbishment Project EA
FRONTIER completed an environmental assessment (EA) for the proposed refurbishment of the existing Wide Hollow Reservoir near the town of Escalante in Garfield County, UT. The EA was completed on behalf of the Wide Hollow Water Conservancy District and the New Escalante Irrigation Company. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was the lead federal agency. The proposed project included the reconstruction of the existing earthen dam to restore water storage capacity that has been lost due to sedimentation, and to bring the facility into compliance with present-day dam safety requirements. The project required in-depth alternatives analyses, resource assessments, T&E species surveys, mitigation planning, NEPA documentation, Section 404 Permitting, and interagency coordination. Work completed under subcontract with Franson Civil Engineers.
